Winpower & SPS G2 Software - Uniti Power

Winpower & SPS G2 Software

Centralised UPS & PDU monitoring, secure remote shutdown and client protection — built for the UPNETG2 network card.

WinPower G2 gives you real-time visibility and control over power infrastructure across sites and platforms. SPS G2 runs on client machines to ensure graceful, coordinated shutdowns during power events. Together they keep your critical systems safe, compliant and online.

Why choose WinPower G2 + SPS G2?

  • One console for many sites: monitor UPSs, PDUs and servers across locations with role-based access.
  • Proactive protection: automate safe shutdowns for physical and virtual workloads to prevent corruption and data loss.
  • Enterprise-ready security: HTTPS by default, LDAP login, certificate pairing for cards, and OWASP alignment.
  • Cross-platform: Windows, Linux and macOS supported for both server and agents.
  •

    Key capabilities

    Monitoring & control

  • Real-time UPS and PDU status, alarms and trends, with dashboards tailored to user permissions.
  • PDU (G2) monitoring and outlet control over SNMP; group outlets and switch on/off by group.
  • Historic data & event logs, including user actions, notifications, shutdown logs and WOL logs.
  • Discovery & communications

  • UPNETG2 cards via MQTT for secure, certificate-based comms and push notifications.
  • NMC G1 or third-party cards via SNMP (RFC1628) (licence required for third-party RFC1628).
  • Local UPS over USB/RS232 and Modbus TCP for IoT-enabled units.
  • Shutdown protection

  • Local host: WinPower installed directly on the machine with scripts and timed UPS shutdown.
  • SPS G2 client shutdown: push a timed, graceful OS shutdown to remote machines with optional pre-shutdown scripts.
  • Virtualisation & servers: VMware ESXi/vCenter (VM/host shutdown), IPMI, SSH, NetApp cluster protection.
  • Redundant UPS groups: trigger only when the combined power source can no longer support the load.
  •

    How it works

WinPower G2 runs as a service with a secure web interface. It discovers power devices (UPSs/PDUs) and protected systems (VMware, IPMI, SSH, NetApp, SPS hosts), then continuously polls or receives push events. When your chosen condition is met, WinPower executes the relevant shutdown plan — including notifying SPS G2 clients — and, where applicable, performs a timed UPS output off for a clean power-down.

    Supported environments

    Operating systems

  • Windows 10 or later (desktop & server)
  • Linux (x86_64 distributions)
  • macOS 11 or later
  • WinPower G2 includes OpenJDK 21. SPS G2 supports Windows 10+, mainstream Linux, and macOS (13.3.1+ recommended).

  •

    Network & ports

  • WinPower G2 web: HTTPS 8081 (HTTP 8082 optional)
  • MQTT (UPNETG2): TCP 8883
  • SNMP: UDP 161 (polling) / UDP 162 (traps)
  • SPS discovery/comm: UDP 6787–6789; SPS web service: TCP 9443
  •

    System requirements

  • CPU: 4 cores (Intel/AMD 64-bit)
  • Memory: 4 GB minimum (8 GB recommended)
  • Recommended web UI resolution: 1920×1080
  •

    Get started in minutes

    1. Install WinPower G2 on a monitoring host and open required ports. Access the web UI and change the default admin password.
    2. Discover your devices — add UPSs via MQTT (UPNETG2), SNMP (NMC G1/third-party), USB/RS232 or Modbus TCP.
    3. Add protected systems — VMware vCenter/ESXi, IPMI, SSH, NetApp and SPS hosts.
    4. Define shutdown conditions — battery time/capacity, discharge duration, or “UPS is going to shut down”.
    5. Deploy SPS G2 on client machines, configure delay, scripts (optional) and shutdown actions, then test.

    FAQs

Does WinPower G2 work without a network card?
Yes. You can connect locally via USB/RS232 or over the network via Modbus TCP. For network-card deployments, UPNETG2 uses MQTT and NMC G1 uses SNMP.

    Can it control PDUs?
Yes. WinPower G2 monitors PDU G2 devices over SNMP and can switch outlets on/off (write credentials required).

    How are shutdowns coordinated?
WinPower G2 evaluates your conditions, notifies SPS clients and/or hypervisors/servers, waits for your defined timers, then performs the UPS output off (where applicable) for a clean power-down.

How many devices can I monitor?
The free edition supports up to 100 power sources. Add a licence to increase limits and enable third-party RFC1628 monitoring.
